Northeast's Afrique Bistro Officially Calls it Quits

After languishing on the market forever, the NE Russell property that's been home to Alem Gebrehiwot's Afrique Bistro has finally seen a change of hands: According to a tipster (and as confirmed on the official website), the two-year-old Pan-African restaurant adjacent to Toro Bravo celebrated its "final curtain call" this past weekend.

Earlier in the month, liquor license paperwork surfaced for the space under the name Tavin's Sports Pub, but Afrique had remained in operation during the transition. Afrique's official shutter has seen more information about its new tenant surface: Tavin's will feature pub grub like pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches, and is vaguely shooting for a December opening.
