Promising news from N. Mississippi: The Oregonian reports this afternoon that Interurban, which suffered a two-alarm fire over the weekend, could open in a limited capacity as early as the end of the week. According to the O's Michael Russell, who talked to co-owners John Gorham and Kurt Huffman, most of the damage occurred in the spot's upstairs kitchen, leaving the downstairs bar area and dining room relatively unscathed. Though the upstairs dining room will be out of commission for a "few weeks," a mock kitchen could serve up a limited menu:
"Depending on inspections this week, Gorham says he hopes to reopen the ground floor bar in time for their scheduled grand opening Dec. 1. Multnomah County granted the restaurant a 14-day limited-menu waiver, and Gorham plans to use Toro Bravo as a commissary kitchen during the day to prepare food for Interurban. "
Stay tuned.
