A two-alarm electrical fire that occurred at 9:45 yesterday morning has shuttered N. Mississippi's Interurban just a couple days before its expected opening. The new American pub — a culinary collaboration between Toro Bravo's John Gorham, ChefStable's Kurt Huffman, and Prost's Dan Hart — was scheduled to open to the public this Tuesday after several soft openings before the Thanksgiving holiday.
According to an official report by Portland Fire & Rescue, firefighters had to use a thermal imaging camera to identify the source of the flames, and the space suffered approximately $100,000 in damage after the electrical fire "started in an outside wall of the building and traveled up through open spaces inside the wall to the attic where the fire grew bigger." No word yet on Interurban's new opening plans; more information as soon as it becomes available.
