The previously announced Feast Portland, the city's first major international food festival, would like to add a "change-the-date" to its initial "save-the-date." In a lengthy piece in today's Oregonian,
food gurus festival founders Mike Thelin and Carrie Welch — known around these parts as Team Thelch — announced that they're pushing back the festival date to September 20-23 "after a major sponsor asked that the festival not conflict with Fashion Week in New York," writes the O's Michael Russell.
And though the big bash is still 10 months away, an early list of participating chefs (and events) has been revealed. According to Russell, "Andy Ricker of Pok Pok has agreed to curate a street-food festival at the Pearl District's Ecotrust building. Tommy Habetz and Nick Wood of Bunk Sandwiches are helping set up a 'Sandwich Invitational,' which will pair a Portland chef with a national chef in a sandwich-making competition." National chefs making the flight in include Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (of Animal in Los Angeles), Seamus Mullen (NYC's Tertulia), and Brad Farmerie (NYC's Public).
