[Roth, 12/1/11]
The early winter opening insanity continues with downtown's late-night industry hangout Pho PDX making the official transformation into LucLac Vietnamese Kitchen. The newly expanded menu keeps the previous incarnation's signature pho, but sees the addition of specialities like sugar cane shrimp (minced shrimp wrapped around sugar cane), ga ro ti (a roasted game hen served with tomato fried rice), and the eponymous luc lac, a beef tenderloin seared with booze, garlic, and peppercorn.
And as to be expected from a late-night hotspot, Luc Lac's cocktail program gets a major upgrade from bar manager/co-owner Adam Ho (and expected guest bartenders like Dave Shenaut and Teardrop's Ricky Gomez): Think drinks like Vietnamese iced coffee spiked with Branca Menta, and a Belvedere-based Thai tea cremosa. LucLac's hours of operation: 11am-midnight, Monday-Thursday; 11am-4am, Friday & Saturday.
