NORTHWEST: The NW building that also houses the Salt, Fire, & Time community kitchen has welcomed another local food-focused tenant in the form of a new bakery, Serious Business Pastries. Though currently open without a retail case, special order treats are available for pick-up and delivery via online ordering. Menu available here. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN: Departure chef Greg Gourdet gets extreme with fowl with a special Peking duck dinners, available only through the end of December. The $75 prix fixe meal feeds four with one Peking duck, accompanying Mandarin pancakes, duck fried rice (garnished with duck liver, heart and kidneys cooked sous vide), and assorted accoutrements. Ducks must be reserved by calling at least 24 hours in advance. [EaterWire]

Williams location of Pix Patisserie has been celebrating its fourth-annual "Bubbly Spectacular," a toast to Champagne's myriad of delightful properties. In addition to daily specialty flights and "spotlight" tastings, upcoming events include a "how to sabre" class (scheduled for this Saturday), an oyster and Champagne pairing evening with EaT: An Oyster Bar (December 15), and a "Spécial Clubs Night" featuring tastes of six top-shelf vintages.
