Nostrana's Fancy Wine Prize; Hiroshi Halts Lunch Service

New, 2 comments

Two quick bites in this afternoon's lunchtime EaterWire:

SOUTHEAST: Nostrana chef Cathy Whims and wine director Nicholas Suhor just joined some impressive company as one of only eight restaurants in the U.S. to win the Leccio d’Oro Osteria Prize, an annual award presented to a restaurant "that has distinguished itself in the presentation of Montalcino wines." (Past American winners include NYC's tony Babbo and Per Se.) To celebrate Whims' trip to Italy, the restaurant will pour a special $19 flight of three Montalcino wines through mid-March.

PEARL DISTRICT: A tipster at PF.org reports that Pearl sushi den Hiroshi has stopped lunch service "until further notice." Speculation: Is lunch coming to chef Hiro Ikegaya's new ramen spot, Mirakutei? Fingers crossed that the law of equivalent exchange kicks in here.
