Apparently President's Day Weekend is good for more than buying used cars. The Oregon Brewers Guild celebrates its third annual Zwickelmania festival on February 19, with more than 55 breweries throughout the state participating in a five-hour orgy of open houses, tastings, and tours. The Portland metro area alone features 28 breweries pouring free samples and guiding beer enthusiasts on guided tours (among those giving out free beer and swag are Full Sail, Hopworks, and BridgePort, though the list of shenanigans — live music! cupcakes and beer! free bathroom tours! is way too long to print here).
And to sweeten the deal, the OBG will provide complimentary shuttle bus service between designated spots in Portland, Eugene, Bend (in Portland, one shuttle tackles a SE-based route, from the Green Dragon to Hawthorne's Lucky Lub, while a NW-focused bus departs the Green Dragon onward to NW 23rd's New Old Lompoc). The party runs from 11am-4pm and admission to all Zwickel events is free; start shaping up that itinerary now.
