The Original's longtime chef BJ Smith has left the dinerant. According to sources, his final shift at the upscale diner, part of Sage Hospitality, was last week. During his tenure Smith was instrumental in toning down the Original's original twisted takes on the traditional diner menu (Voodoo Doughnut Burgers and fried baloney, anyone?).
"BJ Smith has moved on to pursue other interests," says the Original's general manager Meaghan Goedde. "We appreciate all he's done for the restaurant, and wish him only the best. We believe that change is a good thing, and we're looking forward to this next phase at the Original. We'll soon announce our new executive chef, so stay tuned."
