This weekend's food cart fest Eat Mobile 2011 wasn't just a gluttonous parade of cart bites and long lines: The 40 cart participants were also competing for the prestigious "Carty" trophy for the street-food equivalent of "Best in Show," with trophies awarded in the categories of People's Choice and Judge's Choice.
SE Division's Kim Jong Grillin' (which should score another award of some sort for having the Best Cart Name in PDX) took home the Judge's Choice award for its smoked pork belly (on the judging panel, shipped-in heavy-hitters like Time writer Josh Ozersky and VendrTV creator Daniel Delaney cast their votes alongside more-familiar Portland names like Sappington, Habetz, and Pomeroy). For the second year in a row, Whiffies' fried pies took home the People's Choice Award for its deep-fried apple pies. Someone build those folks a trophy case.
