Now is the time for McMenamins' "soft opening" of its spanky new Crystal Hotel on SW Stark Street (it officially opens on May 3) — including its first-floor, glass-encased Zeus Cafe.
Named for Nate and Tilly Zusman (who once owned a nightclub in the space prior to it becoming a gay bathhouse), the Cafe will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus pastries from the Crystal Bakery. As for waitstaff, Zeus features some major players from the Portland food scene, including former El Gaucho manager Franco D'Amico, Wildwood's former front man Hal Finkelstein and Beaker & Flask's red-hot bartender David Shenaut (pictured right) who will be pouring, alongside McMenamins' beers, a slew of specialty cocktails. There's more ink to spill on that upcoming bar program... stay tuned.
