Portland is home to a lot of restaurants, and though certain spots generate all the buzz, there are tons of hidden gems that the majority of Portlanders — ourselves included — just aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's many food luminaries to share with us their under-the-radar recommendations for a weekly feature dubbed Dining Confidential.

Last year, WWeek's sprawling, citywide burger survey crowned Metrovino's burger the best in the Portland. So, in honor of Burger Week, we asked Metrovino chef Greg Denton to share where he goes to fill his own burger cravings.

"When I am craving a great burger and like to stay within walking distance of my house, I go to Fuller’s Coffee Shop in the Pearl. I grew up eating in diners, so the food there is very familiar and comforting. I usually get the double patty with American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayonnaise and if it’s in the morning I will get a fried egg on it. The burger is served by itself, so I will usually add a side of hash browns. Don’t try to ask for a temperature preference (the patties are too thin), but it is always piping hot, the lettuce is crispy and the sesame seed bun is toasty. Your coffee cup is always hot and full and you never have to wait for your check. Don’t forget your cash, they don’t accept credit cards, but there is an ATM inside. I love the atmosphere at Fuller’s, the staff is always friendly, the food is consistent, and it keeps me coming back."
