Yesterday, the final round of our first-ever Food Cart Burger Bracket pitted all neighborhood finalists (Happy Grillmore, Grilled Cheese Grill, Lucy's Original, and Off the Griddle), against each other in a round to, once and for all, determine Portland's best.
And in a neck-and-neck race between downtown's Happy Grillmore and the roving truck Lucy's Original, less than 1% of the vote has crowned Happy Grillmore the winner of the first-annual Food Cart Burger Bracket. Though Grillmore serves up burger specials like the teriyaki burger and a veggie burger dubbed the "Shooter McGavin," a black bean and chipotle patty, the most praise came in for Grillmore's classic burger option, the "Chubs": a 1/3 angus beef patty with cheese, choice of arugula or spinach, all served up on a Fleur De Lis ciabatta roll smeared with "secret sauce."
Congrats to all the participants! But Portland, your work isn't over yet. Over on Eater National, assert PDX's burger supremacy by casting your vote for our cart best. Represent.
UPDATE: National poll's up, kids. Do your thang.
