A Portland-based chef finally lands on the holy grail of food competition shows — Top Chef — so expect the local food media to ride this wave as long as humanly possible! Eater National has the official recap of last night's episode of Top Chef Masters, which featured major, major air time for Beast's Naomi Pomeroy, who led her Restaurant Wars team to conduct service just as it's done at communal-style Beast. (Writes recapper — and NYC restaurateur — Eddie Huang, pretty hilariously: "Naomi says every one in Portland eats at the same time, there’s a communal spirit, a seance, they drink purple kool aid, and die. I really thought Oregon was cool when I got my first Jerome Baker but apparently it’s not that dope anymore." Zing!)
And at last night's Masters viewing party at Spirit of '77, Mayor Sam Adams was on-hand to present our hometown girl with a "Fork to the City"... that was an actual fork! Go gurl. We're now craving some chocolate torte.
