Attention porcine people: The nationwide culinary cook-off known as the Bacon Takedown is making its first visit to Portland — taking over SE Stark's Goodfoot Lounge — next Saturday, May 22. As with all Takedown events, up to 20 local professional and amateur chefs will each cook up 15 pounds of bacon in an effort to put their personal spin on the popular meat candy, with culinary prizes up for grabs. As of press time, there are still open slots available for those looking to participate (each chef will get 15 pounds of bacon to experiment with before the party). For those on the I'll-show-up-and-eat end of the spectrum, the Takedown begins at the Goodfoot at 3pm, and the $10 admission includes tastes of all participants' bacon dishes. [EaterWire]
