[Roth, 5/19/11]
Last summer saw the debut of two carts that re-imagined the the ice cream truck: Scoop Organic Ice Cream and Oregon Ice Works. Add Salt & Straw to that mix — as reported by Eat Beat last week, the "farm-to-cone" spot will start scooping on NE Alberta on May 26, but Eater got a sneak peek at the cart itself as it makes its debut for a soft-opening gig today. The cart, run by Kim Malek, holds eight flavors — on opening day, expect cones of chocolate with "gooey brownie," sea salt with caramel ribbons, almond roca with salted ganache, and honey balsamic strawberry with cracked black pepper.
