ALBERTA: Aaron Woo's haute vegetarian spot Natural Selection will host its first wine dinner — part of a recurring Sunday Special Dinner series — on Sunday, May 15. The five-course vegetarian (but not vegan) dinner will be paired up with wines selected by Blackbird Wine Shop's Andy Diaz. Full menu is still TBA, but reservations are required and are currently being accepted.
BELMONT: Ready a birra toast: Genoa celebrates the emerging Italian craft brewing scene with a $60, five-course pairing dinner and reception scheduled for Tuesday, May 10. After an introductory reception featuring a sparking beer and spuntini, chef David Anderson serves up specially created plates like house-made agnolotti del plin (paired with Piedmont pilsner aged in Slovanian oak barrels), and roasted poussin (paired with shangrila, a beer brewed with tandoori spices).
OLD TOWN: Local chef and cooking instructor John J. Goddard has revived his LUKA series of pop-up dinners, with a supper club event planned for Old Town's KitchenCru community kitchen space this Friday (May 6). Along with four courses of Croatian cuisine (including grilled sardine fillets and a Dalmatian comfort-food entree of braised beef shoulder), Goddard will feature pours of Balkan wines like Piquentum Teranum. Reservations required to the $50, all-inclusive dinner.
