Portland's 10th-Annual Iron Chef Fires Up May 21

Even before the Food Network brought the genius of Kitchen Stadium stateside with Iron Chef America, local chefs were throwing down during Portland Iron Chef, a now-annual culinary competition that benefits the Children's Relief Nursery, an organization that aims to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect. This year — which marks the event's 10th anniversary — sees two-time reigning champion Adam Sappington (of the Country Cat) taking on last year's People Choice winner Chris Thompson (of Iorio) in a secret-ingredient smackdown to determine whose cuisine will reign supreme.

As per the custom, three other chefs will be on-hand to provide bites and compete for the coveted People's Choice Award, which determines the following year's challenger in the main event. (This year, Acadia's Adam Higgs, the Original's Ryan Bleibtrey, and Tabla's Anthony Cafiero will vie for the popular vote with their hors d’oeuvres.)

The event fires up at the Portland Art Museum from 5:30-10pm on Saturday, May 21, and tickets are still available here.
