Oregon is home to a lot of restaurants, bars, wineries, and breweries, and though certain spots generate all the buzz, there are tons of hidden gems that the majority of Portlanders — ourselves included — just aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's many food luminaries to share their under-the-radar recommendations for a weekly feature dubbed Dining Confidential.

While you can usually find Chris DiMinno searing foie gras in Portland at Clyde Common, this month he’ll be searing foie at NYC's James Beard House on June 16. But when Chris is hungry for more than foie, he feeds his own Italian-American roots at 3 Doors Down Café in Southeast Portland.
"If I'm not at Clyde — which is rare — you can find me at 3 Doors Down Café on SE 37th and Hawthorne. I can always count on them for a solid cocktail and the food is consistently good. My ordering usually goes as follows: the housemade chicken liver pate with grilled focaccia and the penne with vodka tomato sauce and Italian sausage. It takes me home to my roots in upstate New York. We were a big pasta family, and I think 3 Doors is doing some of the best pasta in Portland. The staff is always super friendly and good for a laugh. I actually found my current house because of an employee there... just another reason to go in more often!"
