This Sunday, June 19, is Father's Day — and though the holiday doesn't scream "OMG Brunch" nearly as much as its mom-focused counterpart, you should probably take dad out for some booze and red meat, as all dads are wont to love. Here are a half-dozen special menus available for Father's Day (have more? Send 'em here).
1) Where: Aquariva
What: Chef Andy Arndt cooks up a "beer, brunch, and BBQ" special (featuring a plate of tri-tip, sausages, eggs, and biscuits... served with beer), alongside the regular brunch menu. For those who choose to opt out of the Bloody Mary bar (pictured right), Burnside Brewing will also be on-hand to unveil some new brews.
How much: $15 for the BBQ plate, or order a la carte
Address: 4650 SW Macadam Ave., 503-802-5850
2) Where: Brix Tavern
What: At this newish Pearl bar, all dads will receive a free appetizer-sized tavern platter — which features some combination of wings, onion rings, ribs, and fondue — when dining in the pub on Father's Day.
How much: Free app for fathers, regular menu also available
Address: 1338 NW Hoyt St., 503-943-5995
3) Where: Cocotte
What: Saturday and Sunday afternoons will feature Cocotte's first-ever brunch buffet (bites include cheese blintzes and an egg station), while Sunday evening's service markets a special three-course Father's Day scotch-pairing dinner.
How much: $25 for brunch includes one pint of beer
Address: 2930 NE Killingsworth St., 503-227-2669
4) Where: Yakuza
What: A veritable one-stop-shop for Father's Day celebration, Yakuza is offering dads a three-course dinner (including one cocktail) that comes with a soak in the outdoor hot tub and either a shave or massage. For couples celebrating together, complementary child care is also available (but must be reserved by 5/17).
How much: $65 for the Father's Day package, a la carte menu also available
Address: 5411 NE 30th Ave., 503-450-0893
5) Where: Abby's Table
What: Abby's Table's weekly dinner series will pair with Open Kitchen for a special meat-and-beer-filled Father's Day event, featuring a healthy version of meat-and-potatoes paired with a beer flight. Oh, and fathers eat for free.
How much: Free for dads, $40 for guests
Address: 609 SE Ankeny St., 503-828-7662
6) Where: Morton's
What: Because men love meat, Morton's Steakhouse is offering a three-course dinner with dad's choice of steak: Filet Mignon, New York strip, or ribeye.
How much: $69 per person
Address: 213 SW Clay St., 503-248-2100
