Today in exciting collaborations: Departure chef Greg Gourdet is getting "Nong" Poonsukwattana (of Nong's Khao Man Gai fame) out of her cart and into a kitchen: The pair will team for a one-off "Tour of Thailand" dinner scheduled for Wednesday, July 20. The $50, seven-course dinner, featuring both traditional Thai dishes (like street-style roasted duck with egg noodles) and more experimental takes on Thai flavors (grilled pork belly with marinated watermelon, dried shrimp, ginger and chili) is limited to 20 seats, and reservations are strongly recommended. (Maybe this will be a killer preview to Nong's planned brick-and-mortar concept, which has been stewing for several months.)
And according to Gourdet, the collaborative dinner will hopefully be the first of many — an all-vegan dinner with Blossoming Lotus' Wes Hannah is in the works for later this summer.
