Next weekend kicks off Portland's annual Pride celebration, and the following Thursday (June 23) marks the 12th annual Bites for Rights fundraiser, which benefits equality organization Basic Rights Oregon. Start making the daylong dining plans now: More than 60 restaurants — from Davis Street Tavern to Masu Sushi to Detour Cafe — will donate a portion of the day's receipts to BRO, and local food carts are also getting in on the action (DC Vegetarian and Salt & Straw ice cream are among the spots on the list).
For a gala Bites for Rights celebration, though, Eater's own social butterfly Byron Beck will host an intimate private dinner at SE's Genoa, where proceeds from the $120, five-course dinner will go toward BRO's efforts. Seating for the Beck blowout is limited to 16 guests; for more information, visit the restaurant's official site.
