As promised, the RingSide restaurant group, which operates two RingSide Steakhouse locations in Portland, is expanding its concept to include the seafood-focused RingSide Fish House, opening to the public today.
The 240-seat restaurant — originally a temporary location for W. Burnside's RingSide Steakhouse during a long re-modeling process — occupies the second floor of downtown's Fox Tower and features a menu by Five-Oh-Three alum Johnny Nunn. In March, Nunn described the fish house menu as "American contemporary" and driven by seasonal, market-fresh ingredients ("we wanted to modernize the existing menu a little bit," he said, "[But] we're not reinventing anything... we're hoping to be creative in other ways"). Meanwhile, the restaurant's new six-to-eight-item raw bar maintains the focus on the RingSide brand's already popular happy hour: A peek into a recent Yelp event reveals happy hour menu items like crab cake sliders, ahi tuna burgers, jambalaya, and shrimp rolls.
RingSide Fish House opens for dinner service tonight at 5pm.
