DOWNTOWN: Chef Pascal Chureau, of West Linn's Allium Bistro, is bringing his neighborhood community suppers to downtown's Brasserie Montmartre. Starting in August, the first Sunday of each month will feature a $39, family-style "Sunday Table" meal cooked up by Chureau and Brasserie chef Michael Hanaghan, pairing seven courses with the appropriate beer, wine, or champagne. The first five dinners (scheduled through December) highlight different culinary regions within France, and those adverse to social interaction might want to know that up to 80 guests will be seated around large communal tables. Reservations available now by calling the restaurant. [EaterWire]
HAWTHORNE BRIDGE: As part of a now-annual tradition, Portland Bridge Fest organizers royally screw up traffic in order to throw the otherwise amazing Brunch on the Bridge, which turns the Hawthorne Bridge into a massive picnic site for one day only (this year, it's on Sunday, August 6). For $25 (a portion of proceeds will benefit B-Shares, which delivers food by bike to those in need), guests are invited to picnic on the bridge and collect bites from on-site samples; a $75 donation gets you a stocked picnic basket containing brunch prepared by local chefs. And in a nod to the magic of spectacle, Voodoo Doughnuts will attempt to break the world record for "The World's Largest Box of Doughnuts" by frying up 4,000 treats (so... free doughnuts!). Tickets available here. [EaterWire]
