Aviary Temporarily Closed, Barista Turns to Cart Post-Fire

New, 2 comments

An update on the status of Aviary and Barista, two of the businesses affected by a Fourth of July fire that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage: Aviary's trio of chef/owners Sarah Pliner, Jasper Shen, and Kat Whitehead released an official statement this afternoon that's vague on a projected re-opening date. "Aviary Restaurant sustained fire and water damage on July 4th and as a result the restaurant will be closed temporarily as we ascertain the extent of the damage and begin repairs. We hope to reopen as soon as possible and thank you for your support."

Meanwhile, Barista's Billy Wilson twatted this afternoon that Stumptown is helping the roasted furnish a cart to keep operations going: "Looks like @stumptowncoffee is coming through for us. 95% sure that we'll have a cart in the courtyard by sometime tomorrow." And the Salt & Straw ice cream cart, which is usually parked in the Aviary courtyard, sustained no damage and is operating business as usual.

More updates as they become available.
