Local Chefs Crank it Out at Annual Ice Cream "Churnament"

New, 1 comment

Dudes: Free ice cream. The second-annual Oregon Dairy Farmers' Churn-a-ment is set for downtown's Pioneer Courthouse Square this Friday (July 8), and among the flurry of festivities that'll see guests licking up their free ice cream samples: an impressive lineup of local chefs will duke it out in a relay-race-meets-dessert-making competition.

Top Chef Master Naomi Pomeroy (Beast), Dustin Clark (Wildwood), Jenn Louis (Lincoln, Sunshine Tavern), Matt Christianson (Urban Farmer), Kim & Tyler Malek (Salt & Straw ice cream cart), and Megan Vargas (Andina) will race to hand-churn a batch of "Oregon-inspired" ice cream, with a panel of judges crowning the ultimate winner. Though with free summer treats and a dash of public spectacle, everyone's a winner! Or some such.
