After enjoying six years in business, the owners of NW 21st's Lucy's Table have announced the restaurant's impending closure — and the space has already been sold to a familiar face. Richard Satnick, owner of the Laughing Planet empire and SE Belmont's "paleo-friendly" diner Dick's Kitchen, will soon open another location of the locavore diner in the Lucy's space.
The original Dick's Kitchen debuted on Belmont last August with the mission of serving up comforting diner food without the grease (tempeh reuben, anyone?). No word yet if its second location marks the beginning of a Laughing Planet-like empire, which includes nine restaurants in Portland and Eugene. An announcement notes that Dick's Kitchen will open after an unspecified remodeling period; Lucy's Table's last dinner service is slated for Tuesday, August 9.
