Van Schnitzels for Sale; FOODday Down a Staffer

SOUTHEAST/RICHMOND: Cue those predictions of the food cart apocalypse. On the heels of Wednesday's Cart Talk: Firesale Edition, another high-profile cart — the A La Carts-parked Van Schnitzels — has announced that it's up for sale. The shutter seems temporary, though: Owners posted over at Food Carts Portland's Facebook page that "We are closing for a bit to make some changes in our business, but we will be back and mobile once again with schnitzel, spaetzle, curry ketchup and more." MEDIA NEWS: An Oregonian departure to report: Longtime FOODday staffer Leslie Cole, a seven-year veteran of the section, confirmed earlier today that she's leaving the daily for a new gig as communications manager for Grand Central Baking. [Twitter]
