Portland Monthly's Eat Beat reports this afternoon that the Cafe Velo brick-and-mortar outpost on SW Pine, which served up healthy lunch options in addition to Velo's signature coffees — has shuttered.
According to Eat Beat's Ben Tepler, Velo's owner Rick Wilson closed the spot to "regain focus on his mobile coffee business," but here's some light at the end of the tunnel: Wilson will retain the space, possibly to open combination coffee-and-pie spot with another Farmers Market favorite. "Wilson says he has tentative plans to re-open the storefront with fellow Portland Farmers Market vendor Lauretta Jean's, the standout pie 'shop' run by Kate McMillen and Noah Cable," Tepler writes. More information as it becomes available.
