CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL: Per a press release hot off the, well, presses, 2nd Story, a new small-plates restaurant occupying the second floor of the Eastside building that also houses Cellar Door Coffee, has made its debut. The project, a collaboration between Cellar Door founders Andrea Pastor and Jeremy Adams and chef Erin McBride — formerly the pastry chef at downtown's storied Higgins — pairs plates with libations by Bar Avignon and Noble Rot alum Brandy Graves. Sample menu — which features items like a braised pork cheek sandwich, chilled chickpea soup, and brown butter tart with berries — here. [EaterWire]
IRVINGTON: The New School blog reports that the Fifteenth Avenue Hophouse, by the folks behind the Hawthorne Hophouse, officially opened for business this past weekend, apparently sidestepping the neighborhood controversy chronicled by the O. According to Facebook, there's still just a "limited food menu" available at this time. [New School]
