Yard House to Occupy Downtown's Saks Fifth Avenue Space

New, 1 comment

As previously reported, the CA-based chain Yard House — which Portlanders will inevitably take to task for once claiming to have "the world's largest selection of draft beer" — named PDX as one of its eight expansion cities for 2012, and early reports suggested that CEO Harald Herrmann was eyeing a downtown location in Pioneer Place mall.

According to the Oregonian, Yard House will take over the space vacated by Saks Fifth Avenue last year. "We think there's a resurgence in that part of downtown," Herrmann told the O (he's also particularly interested in how "development coincide[s] with the Apple store that's in development as well"). And because you're curious, in regards to living up to the YH's beer-savvy image: "We like to showcase a lot of the local beers that are staples in the local communities," Hermann says. "Then we bring in some other beers that you can't get in other bars."
