Throughout the month of August, several Portland-area restaurants are participating in an ongoing Do-Gooding Dealfeed on behalf of Sisters of the Road's "Dining with Dignity" effort. On nearly every day of the month, one local restaurant or food cart has pledged at least 10% of that day's sales to the Old Town organization, which aims to create "community-driven, nonviolent solutions to the calamities of homelessness and poverty."
Participants span all neighborhoods and cuisines, and include spots like Lincoln (which will donate 10% of sales tonight), Pacific Pie Co., Tin Shed, Mississippi Pizza Pub, and Prasad. Among the larger contributors: The Ecotrust location of Laughing Planet will donate 20% of all sales on August 9; Por Que No has pledged 20% on August 10; Dovetail Bakery adds another 20% on August 19; while Il Piatto will donate 20% of all sales on August 17 and 31. And for those into drag queen bingo, Hamburger Mary's will host a Drag Queen Bingo night on August 18, with the $20 buy-in (plus an additional 10% of food and beverage sales) benefiting Sisters.
For the complete calendar and list of participants, click through to Sisters of the Road's official site. Plan accordingly.
