As a social experiment, programmer and writer Jonathan Stark has publicly posted his Starbucks card online, letting anyone use it to buy coffee or, inversely, put money on it. Of course it's connected to a Twitter account to show the constantly changing balance, and Stark calls the project an experiment with "social sharing of physical goods using digital currency on mobile phones."
