The famous "Twofer" is no more. The Oregonian reports that Hollywood's Poor Richard's Restaurant, which opened in 1959, will shutter for good after a staggering 52 years in business. This evening is the final night of service, with lights permanently going out tomorrow.
The future of Poor Richard's became unclear earlier this summer when Brett Kucera, owner of the neighboring Tony Starlight Supper Club, filed paperwork to purchase the Poor Richard's building and move his supperclub in. According to today's O update, however, that deal has apparently fallen through. The closure of Poor Richard's is the latest in a recent string of shutters affecting Old School Portland haunts, which includes the demise of decades-old spots like the 55-year-old Rose's Deli & Bakery and 38-year-old Niki's Restaurant. RIP.
