Lease details have yet to be hammered out, but a liquor license application confirms that Kenny & Zuke's co-founder (and food blogger) Nick Zukin is opening a Mexican restaurant, hopefully to occupy the SE Division space that recently housed the Blue Pig Cafe. (The Blue Pig packed up and moved to SE Hawthorne and 20th.) Working title: Mi Mero Mole.
"I think most people who've paid any attention what I do know that Mexican food is my first love," Zukin says in an email. "That I travel often to Mexico, that I'm constantly exploring Mexican food in Portland and elsewhere in the United States, that I've taught Mexican cooking classes, that I've done special Mexican dinners at Kenny & Zuke's, etc. While I don't want too many of the details of what I'm planning to get out before the restaurant is for sure, suffice it say that it will be a taqueria serving very authentic Mexico City-style street food not available in Portland and rarely available in the United States at all." More information about the spot when it becomes available.
