ZOMG event-planning EaterWire time!:
DIVISION/CLINTON: Chef Trent Pierce unveils the first pairing dinner to hit the uber-hip Japanese spot Wafu, and it's a doozy: As a celebration of International Sake Day, Pierce will serve up eight courses (and nine tastes of sake) during two seatings on Saturday, October 1, and a look at the menu sees Pierce going back to his seafood roots, with dishes like walu and white miso leek; salmon belly and silken edamame; and a dish that pairs tuna, foie gras, green apple, cucumber, and white soy. Reservations are $150 per person, all inclusive, and available here.
TUALATIN: Five Portland-area chefs head out to Tualatin's Hedges Creek Marsh on Sunday, October 2 for the annual "Wetlands & Wellies" fundraising dinner, to benefit the Wetlands Conservancy. Nostrana's Cathy Whims, Wildwood's Dustin Clark, Riffle's Ken Norris, South Park's Broc Willis, and local baking sensation Kim Boyce will team up with Oregon Oyster's Liu Xin to create a four-course progressive dinner in the marsh, which is the site of an upcoming Wetlands conservation project. Tickets are $125 and include alcohol pairings; more information at the official site.
CENTRAL EASTSIDE: In another installment of a recurring wine dinner series, Olympic Provisions chef Alex Yoder will cook up a five-course meal on Sunday, September 25 — this one inspired by wines from R. Lopez de Heredia of Rioja. The $55 Rioja wine dinner includes bites of baby octopus, pork meatballs, and a Rioja charceuterie board but does not including pairings (which are an optional $45 addition). Reservations available here.
NORTHWEST: Cafe Nell celebrates its third birthday this Saturday, September 24, with its third-annual (see how that works?) parking lot clambake, an event that also functions as a fundraiser for Mercy Corps. The $30 entrance includes all-you-can eat clam stew, Caesar salad, orzo pasta salad, and dessert, in addition to two drink tickets (additional beverages can be purchased at the cash bar for $5 a pop). Tickets are currently on sale at the restaurant, or available at the door.
