Perk up, vegan friends: It looks like Native Foods Cafe, the vegan-friendly casual cafe concept based that originated in Palm Springs, CA, is eyeing expansion plans in the Portland metro area. According to a job listing looking for qualified managers (plural!), the franchise is "rapidly expanding across the country, including new locations in Portland and surrounding areas."

Native Foods recently opened its first locations outside California earlier this summer, with two restaurants in Chicago (and another set to open in early October). Per the chain's official mission statement, "Our menu concept unites both the vegetarian and the traditional diner, and in doing so we specialize in introducing alternative tasty textures, which include tempeh and seitan. These foods have ancient origins and are an artisan craft in their making; which we do from scratch. Our talent is in artfully exceeding one’s expectations of vegetarian cuisine."

More information about Native Foods in PDX as it becomes available. Got a tip or eaten at a CA Native Foods? Reviews welcome in the comments.
