What I've Learned

Over on Esquire's Eat Like A Man blog, Clyde Common bar manager Jeffrey Morgenthaler gets the magazine's "What I've Learned" treatment. Among the wisdoms shared: Not all things are better from artisan producers; it's more important to spend time behind the bar than on Facebook, and bartending in Portland — where "everybody's kind of 27... and nobody really has a job" — has its perks. "In other cities, people would look down on you for being a bartender, which is really sad, but it's true. In Portland, you tell people you're a bartender, and they're like, 'Awesome.'"
