The Mercury reports that about two dozen Portland food cart owners have joined forces to start the Oregon Street Food Association, an advocacy group for cart owners. According to Whiffies owner Gregg Abbot, the group will focus on education and government-level advocacy outside the umbrella of the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association's food service interest group. "There are aspects of what we have to do that the restaurant association doesn't really understand, which is why I think it's hard for them to represent us," Abbot says. More information here.
