The long-stewing rumors are true: The West End's high-profile twelve | west building (best known as the failed site of Corazón and the Pinot American Brasserie), will soon welcome a second location of Rick Gencarelli's popular sandwich spot Lardo. According to ChefStable owner Kurt Huffman, who backed both the Corazón and Lardo concepts, the sprawling space will be divided into separate sites housing different restaurants, with Lardo taking the building's high-profile, 50-seat corner spot (formerly home to the Corazón bar area).
Gencarelli originally debuted his sandwich shop Lardo as a food cart on SE Belmont, opening his first brick-and-mortar fewer than four months ago on SE Hawthorne. Per Huffman, Lardo downtown will debut "in two to four weeks" — sometime in November. More as it becomes available.
