SE Morrison is getting another Thai restaurant — with a twist. Paadee owner Earl Ninsom (who also founded N. Mississippi's Mee Seen Thai) will soon debut Tarad, a hybrid mini-restaurant and marketplace selling traditional Thai ingredients. "What we're trying to do here is to offer some knowledge and information to people who really want to learn what Thai cuisine is all about," Ninsom says. The retail space will offer everything from Thai cookbooks ("both in Thai and English language"), as well as both basic and difficult-to-find Thai "ingredients and sauces to make your own Thai food that we actually eat back in the country."
The diminutive restaurant space, measuring just 516 square feet, will serve a limited menu of sarapao — "or what people know as 'bao,'" Ninsom says — plus a few noodle and noodle soup dishes. According to Ninsom, the spot plans to be open super-late-night (until 3a.m. on weekends) to appeal to bar crowds from the neighboring Dig a Pony and Rum Club. Construction is currently underway, with a projected opening date TBD. More updates as they become available.
