Portland Chefs Throw Down in New Iron Chef Event

As per annual tradition, several local chefs will team up to raise funds for the Children's Relief Nursery during Portland's Original Iron Chef competition, this year scheduled for Thursday, October 25. Unlike the previous format (which saw a panel of judges tasting the products of a head-to-head match-up), the autumn event will allow all guests to taste — then judge — bites from six chefs, with the crowd favorite crowned the Iron Chef winner.

Reigning champion Rick Widmayer (Screen Door) will take on Anthony Cafiero (of soon-to-come modern Spanish spot Racion), Gavin Ledson (Davis Street Tavern), Ben Shaw (Simpatica Dining Hall), Jill Ramseier (Deschutes Brewery), and Laura Rhoman (Slappy Cakes). The showdown sets up at the World Forestry Center, and all proceeds from the $100 ticket benefits the Children's Relief Nursery. More information here.
