NE ALBERTA—Alberta's eight-year-old Italian spot Ciao Vito has undergone a dining room and kitchen remodeling of sorts, with owner Vito DiLullo announcing that recent New York City transplant Jose Chesa has been named the new chef. Per DiLullo, the Barcelona-born Chesa, who's an alum of NYC's Fleur de Sel and Puerto Rico's Bodegas Compostela, brings both French and Spanish influences to the Ciao Vito menu — which sees a new format highlighting tapas and entrees like braised veal and paella. A half-dozen the spot's Italian classics — like the Piedmontese skirt steak and sausage ragu — remain on the menu. [EaterWire]
SOUTHEAST/BROOKLYN—Good news for pizza fans: SE's wood-fired Tastebud announced today that it will extend its dining room hours, tacking on an extra two days per week to enjoy its pizza and rotisserie chickens. Tastebud is now open Wednesday through Sunday, with Sunday-evening's all-you-can-eat pizza night still in effect. [EaterWire]
