Clyde Common Does Brunch; MasterChef Auditions

DOWNTOWN—Another spot auspiciously joins the brunch bandwagon: After five years of abstaining, Clyde Common tells Eater that it will launch a weekend brunch service starting this Friday (tomorrow, November 9). Unsurprisingly, the menu (downloadable in .pdf form here) is heavy on savory options (like biscuits with clam gravy and pork sausage; chicken-fried beef tongue; and duck poutine), but chef Chris DiMinno also offers sweeter tastes like French toast with banana jam, and beignets with buffalo mozzarella. Clyde will continue its regular lunch service Monday through Thursday, with brunch available from 9a.m. to 3p.m., Friday to Sunday. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN—Oh and speaking of Clyde, its bar will join Hurricane Sandy relief efforts by donation 10 percent of its nightly bar revenue to sister bar the Beagle, which was effected by the storm. A Beagle signature drink, dubbed "the Second Marriage," will also be on the menu, with 100 percent of its proceeds going to the East Village bar. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN—Care to get shouted out by infamously shouty chef Gordon Ramsay? Producers for FOX's reality cooking show MasterChef — open to only amateur cooks — will hold an open casting call in Portland this Saturday, November 10, at downtown's Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. Fameballs can consult the application here. [EaterWire]
