[Avila, 12/13/12]
After a Kickstart and a couple false starts, the retail shop for porky purveyors Tails & Trotters finally swung its doors open earlier this week, inside NE's micro-restaurant compound the Ocean. As promised, Mark Cockcroft and Aaron Silverman's butchery case features nose-to-tail cuts, while a deli offers T&T's cured and prepared products — like prosciutto, "porkstrami," ham, sausages, and pates — for take-out. (For the truly lazy cooks, pre-marinated meats like coppa steaks, flank steaks, and porchetta roast are also available for grab-and-go.) Currently, plans are to unveil soups and the full sandwich menu — featuring pork bahn mi, deviled ham with pickled cabbage, and porkstrami Reuben— next week.
Tails & Trotters' hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 10a.m. to 7p.m.; Saturday, 10a.m. to 4p.m.
