Event-planning EaterWire time:
SE BELMONT—Attention last-minute plan-makers: Tonight (that's Tuesday, December 4), Champagne sommelier David Spear (of Ambonnay) joins forces with Genoa's in-house wine man Michael Garofola for a five-course Champagne pairing dinner that'll see wine bottles directly on the table (meaning: free-flowing pours). To go with the bubbly, Genoa will serve up courses like agnolotti with celeriac and marscapone; Dungeness crab salad; and pan-seared elk loin (not counting snacks during an introductory cocktail hour). Reservations are $115 and available by calling the restaurant.
BUCKMAN—As per annual tradition, Nostrana's Cathy Whims celebrates the Olio Nuovo harvest (aka the first olive-oil pressing of the season) with an Olio Nuovo "Wine Dinner" on Monday, December 10. Though the five-course meal includes wine pairings, the focus of the sommelier will be the oils themselves — expect courses like oil-poached bay scallops and spaghettoni perfumed with meyer lemon and oil. Reservations are $85 inclusive of dinner and wine; secure your seat by calling the restaurant.
CENTRAL EASTSIDE INDUSTRIAL—The boozy Rum Club throws its second "Sunday Supper" — a recurring dinner series — this week on December 9, featuring five courses cooked up by chef Jon "Bones" Anderson. And because this is the Rum Club, each course is paired with a cocktail by Eater Bartender of the Year Adam Robinson: Expect match-ups like an oyster stew, leek and fennel fondue paired with a sparkling cocktail of gin and thyme liqueur; and the main course of lamb stew with a bourbon sour made with Evan Williams, gin, sherry, grenadine, and bitters. Reservations are $55 and available here.
NORTHWEST/ALPHABET DISTRICT—This one's for the kiddies: NW 23rd's 23 Hoyt will host restaurateur Bruce Carey's annual "Holiday Brunch," and Santa Claus is slated to stop by during this Sunday's event, from 10a.m. to 2p.m.
