Let's go ahead and call 2012 the "Year of the Bakery Opening." The newest addition: The Blue Collar Baking Company, which opened earlier this week in a 1,600-square-foot spot in downtown's Embassy Suites building. Baker/owner/proud blue collar boy Warren Becker (pictured) offers cheekily named cookies (like the "Wage Earner," with chocolate chips, brown sugar, and pecans, and the most-popular "Lunch Whistle," with cranberries, white chocolate, and orange zest) for a buck, as well as a rotating daily selection of bundt cakes, scones, and panini.
The location also offers delivery in the downtown area. Hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 7am-5:3pm; Saturday, 7:30am-3pm.
