Cochon 555 Announces 2012 Portland Event Lineup

New, 1 comment

Traveling pork orgy Cochon 555 announced earlier this year that it would return to Portland in 2012 for its annual celebration of porky goodness (officially, it's a "culinary competition and tasting event to promote sustainable farming of heritage breed pigs"), and now, details about location and participating chefs have been revealed.

Downtown diner the Original will play host to the event, and competing in the whole hog cook-off (and the title of Prince or Princess of Porc) are chefs Vitaly Paley (Paley's Place), Naomi Pomeroy (Beast), Adam Sappington (The Country Cat), Jason Barwikowski (The Woodsman Tavern), and Rita Jia You (Lucky Strike). As per usual, guests get to sample each chef's nose-to-tail offerings and cast their vote for the favorite. Nostrana's Cathy Whims will also participate in what organizers are calling an "interactive tasting contest," and EaT: Oyster Bar's Ethan Powell and Tobias Hogan will cook up a whole-hog BBQ.

The March 12 event will give 2010 Cochon winner Jason Barwikowski the opportunity to defend his title; Cochon did not make a stop in Portland last year for reasons totally unknown. Tickets available here.
