After a renovation that saw the shutter of its Champions Restaurant & Sports Bar, the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel debuted its new Pacific Northwest-leaning restaurant, Truss, earlier this week. (The spot's name nods to Portland's famous bridges, including the nearby Hawthorne Bridge.) As reported earlier this year, former Aquariva chef Andy Ardnt has taken over the new 86-seat restaurant (designed by the same group that revamped downtown's the Nines Hotel) — the lobby, still under construction, will seat an additional 100 guests with a more casual, "quick bite" menu when it officially opens in mid-March.
For now, the Truss dining room serves up lunch and dinner (appetizers highlight seafood — including oysters, smoked salmon platters, and IPA-cooked clams), with larger entree options like Pinot-braised short ribs and duck confit (served with a white bean cassoulet, pancetta, and wild mushrooms). And yes, there's a burger: The house version comes with pulled pork, fried egg, bacon, and tomato jam. Hours of operation: lunch served from 11am-2pm, dinner from 5pm-10pm, seven days a week.
