Venue Problems Cancel 2012 Portland Indie Wine Festival

Sorry, winos: The 2012 Portland Indie Wine & Food Festival, which was to be the festival's eight-annual celebration of small-batch winemakers, has been shelved due to an issue with its host venue. According to organizers, NE's Bison Building — the site of the 2011 and 2010 Indie Wine Fests — "has just been leased to a long-term tenant and is no longer available for events," despite Indie's usual occupation of the building each May.

In a statement, the festival organizers announced that "we prefer to delay a year rather than compromise on the production of the event... We're now talking to potential strategic partners, and are exploring fun, special ways of conducting tastings and/or incorporating our Indie Library cellar of wines into other events. We look forward to continuing to build upon the amazing community of Indie wineries this competition and wine event has created."

More information about those other events as it becomes available.
